Benefit Golf Tournament for Tointon Family Stadium

Reading about golf benefit programs is always a great news I would like to share…
Benefit golf tourney set for Cotton Bowl

For Kansas State fans going through withdrawal from golf, former Wildcats baseball player Jay Kvasnicka has the fix.

Kvasnicka is organizing the Purple Invasion Golf Tournament the morning of the Cotton Bowl at Riverside Golf Club near Dallas on Friday.

The tournament will have a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. and is located north of Arlington and six miles north of Cowboys Stadium — where K-State and Arkansas will meet at 7:30 that night.

Kvasnicka, who lettered as a second baseman for the Wildcats from the 1982-84 and graduated from K-State in 1986, helped organize the tournament as a benefit for the K-State baseball program. The goal is to raise money to help the program purchase a $70,000 sound system for Tointon Family Stadium.

“I think Coach (Brad) Hill has done a great job for the program,” said Kvasnicka, who is currently a business broker in Overland Park. “We just want to support them. They have had some momentum and they are very competitive.

“For a non-revenue sport, it can be tough. Baseball is not the most ideal school-time sport because of the weather and the fact you start the season in late February and it’s still pretty cool then.
“We just want to support (K-State) anyway we can.”
